Maurice "Don't Call Me Moe" Harkless

If Vuciecic and Afflalo have a thread its time for a Dont Call Me Moe Harkless thread...

    According to draftexpress:

    Best case: Trevor Ariza
    Worst case: Devin Ebanks

What do you guys think of him.. is he the real deal? Does he have a higher potential then Trevor Ariza?

What do you see him contributing in his rookie year????
    please respond.

I'll be honest I didn't watch a game of him in college. Barely watched any basketball to be honest. But from what I'm reading he's a long and got a high ceiling he's a long term prospect though. He's apparently meant to be our defensive stopper.

He really is a project. But it will do him wonders playing in position this season. He is a natural wingman. But he played a lot of big man in the collegiate level. He has a very high ceiling but has already proven to be a very nice defender. His offensive game is not that good though.

I could see him taking over Turkoglu as the season goes on but I can also see him (hope not) busting. But he is kind of like Earl Clark. He has all of the attributes to be a great player. That is length, athleticism, work ethic but it all needs to gel together in the NBA level. The only way I think this happens is if he is given a lot of opportunity. This should happen.

    Rob Thorn on Maurice Harkless...

"We feel he's going to be a very good shooter in this league."
"His growth plates are still open so he'll grow another 1-2 inches."
"He was our #1 target this draft."
"Everyone with a basketball mind in our organization felt Maurice was the right pick."

Been reading that he's got the potential to be like a Rudy Gay type guy. He was horrible in UCONN and Harkless wasn't the best. His ceiling isn't really known because he's been playing out of position the whole time... So I guess he could be anything like Gay or something like Matt Barnes.

I hope he hasn't peaked yet though.

I really do not think he has peaked at all. I think his ceiling is higher than majority of the players in the draft. Because he was playing out of position for most part of his college season we really could not see him at his full potential. I think one of the great things J mentioned earlier was that he still is going to grow a few inches. That means he could be 6'10 and a guy of that size and with his athleticism playing anywhere from shooting guard to power forward is tremendous.

I think he just needs to develop his jumpshot and he has a spot as a starting player in the league. That will come with time. As you said Rudy Gay had a average jump shot coming into the league and now look at him. I am not comparing him to Rudy Gay I am just saying that it is possible that he can become a great player in the league.

I too doubt he's peaked. Playing in position should do him wonders though.
