They aren't rebuilding around Afflao, he's a piece of their future.

but he's 26 and i know by the time they are back to playoff ball he will be out of his prime so if he ain't trade bait it's pretty pointlesshe is in his prime now. deal him off for a prospect that you can do something with (Derrick Williams maybe)

Afflao should be able do his Spot Up/Lockdown combo at this level for at least another 5-6 seasons.
He will only start to decline after his contract is up. Even after his contract has expired he could very well be at his peak as a player. But if the Magic are rebuilding and his contract is up we have no reason to resign him. The rebuilding process is going to take 2 years atleast and I know it will take more than that.
Afflalo may not be likely to retire with the Magic. But whilst he is in a Magic uniform he will perform. No one knows, for all I know he could perform and put up numbers worthy of that contract. Which is a possibility because the Magic right now are in need of a leader/offensive spark.

what the magic need is to suck badly, get rid of contracts like Hedo and start from the ground up. Afflalo isn't exactly a good contract for a team like Orlando who are at the bottom of the conference. for a team like Chicago, Minnesota etc who could use the S.G, it may serve well to trade for him (Minny can give Derrick Williams to Orlando which is a much better piece going forward in this instance than Afflalo)

Arron Afflalo ain't ruining any tank plans. They won't be good regardless. I think it's great that they have at least one vet at reasonable money for the next 4 seasons. No team plans on losing for four years because if they do, their finances go to shit. This isn't NBA 2k, if you have an awful season you'll lose millions of dollars.

they're going to be god awful with or without him, he isn't a player that will make you go from a 15 win team to a 30 win team. no he will maybe win them a few more games then he would of before. rather deal him for a guy like Derrick Williams who can get asses on seats in Orlando. start Reddick and go from there
more importantly. even if they don't get that, deal him off with Hedo for shit deal. suck this year, land a guy like Cody Zeller (hoping he lands in Orlando since he seems like a good C to build around + he will stick around based on his character)
Cody Zeller | NBADraft.net
possibly unprofitable this season but at the end of the day, they rather use Afflalo whilst they can and either get Hedo of their payload or get a prospect (either scenario they are getting a top pick after this season anyway)
I don't see what's so good about Cody Zeller. Everyones hyping him up
OK.
You do not understand the rebuilding process. We have a window of a few years. I would not be surprised if after the 4 years we will only just be eclipsing the playoffs. Afflalo will be expired by then, if he has proved himself worthy he will be resigned if not he will walk.
If the right trade come forward we will trade but if there is no trade worth the trouble. I do not see the point of moving him.
