The only deception occuring is the people who will show up claiming to be the Jesus of the bible or the Mahdi of islam and have half the world, which is already comprised of people who claim the Abrahamic religions follow these books to the letter and accept them as their gods and rulers, though they already know exactly what prophecies must be fulfilled, what is supposed to happen, and when because it's been written for them already. Religion is nothing but mind control and is frequently used as the main agent provacatuer whenever society as a whole has begun backsliding. As things get worse economically, people will become more and more what they actually are... animals.
