    Thoughts on Melo trade?

Honestly I hate it. Melo is OK, but I am just not a fan of his, I just don't care. Unlike NFL and MLB I don't truly follow teams I follow players. Knicks traded away Gallo and Chandler, I cared about them. I honestly just hate the trade and probably gonna move on again, maybe just follow Nate Robinson, I just cant see myself caring about the Knicks anymore.

The Knicks were 28-26 with there current group of players I think Melo is a top 10 player so IMO the Knicks did the what they had to get him sure they gave up alot but in the long run i think it will be for the best for the Franchise and if ur just following Nate Robinson it sucks he only plays 17 minutes a game for the celtics but as long as rondo is there Nate will never get to much PT

theyd just be a perennial lower playoff team that gets knocked out by the big dogs of the east if a trade wasn't made. they'll probably crap out early this year in the playoffs but its a strong start for the immediate future.

    ^ Agreed.

I think it's a good core between Melo and Amar'e. That's something you can build off of.

I thought Gallo, Feilds, and Amare was something you could build off of. By this point Amare and Melo are grizzled vets, not really building blocks.

So Pretty much u would not swap Gallo for Melo cause like Bilt said they still have Fields and still have Amare I guess if u were really high on Gallo i would be mad but i just dont see it

Personally I also hate it. And that's not because of how I think it benefits/hurts the Knicks, but rather how it affects the NBA as a whole. Going back to LA's "Gasol" trade, to Boston's Big Three coming together, to the Heat's new Big Three in Miami, and now Melo's dealing to New York, the same tendency seems to be showing up and that is: Big Cities get the Big Names and soon the "little guys" will be irrelevant.
To me, it seems the NBA is slowly becoming more and more like the MLB in that there are 3-4 star-studded teams that are stacked(usually in big cities like New York and Boston), while the other teams from smaller markets are forced to trade away good players for prospects, etc..widening the gap further. (i've seen the Cleveland Indians do this countless times in recent years). One idea that I've seen floating around is that David Stern should allow teams to put "tags" on certain players they consider to be franchise players, which I believe (i still don't know too much on the topic) would prevent the player from leaving via trade or free agency. This would allow the "wealth" to be shared more equally...maybe it's just that I support a small market team but I think something needs to be done before it gets ridiculous with stars aligning in big cities...

I feel what ur saying Macgruber but it has been happening in the Nba for a long time that Stars leave small market teams and go the big markets I was watching Espn earlier and for example they said Kareem left the Bucks to go to the Lakers and Shaq left Orlando to go to the Lakers ....... The Boston big 3 was pretty much just the KG trade cause Ray Allen got traded there by the Sonics and the Celtics were not very good when they made that deal it was not until they got KG that they became a great team ...

And ur reference to Baseball the Tampa Bay rays dont spend shit for money the Fans dont go to the Games and they have won the divison 2 of the last 3 years and went to the world series so I dont beleive the big market teams always win in baseball cause the Marlins won a few world series and they are cheap bastards just like the Rays

    So there's a few acceptions...
I see what you're saying and I agree, but I'm just saying these next few years especially I see it getting ridiculous. You have 7 or so of the top 10/15? players in the league on 3 teams...
And with the baseball examples..have you been to a Marlins game? I'll give the Rays their props..they've done a lot with a little, and have good attendance but the Marlins...I'm pretty sure their stadium was empty most of the time last season..
Anyway...that was more of a rant than anything, but I appreciate the comments and see what you're saying.
