Team by Team greatest need by RealGM

We recently conducted team-by-team polls on RealGM to determine which position represents the greatest offseason need as we enter the draft and free agency.

There were 13 teams that voters indicated center was the greatest position of need, followed by eight teams needing upgrades at point guard, seven teams requiring a shooting guard and two teams where small forward is most important. Power forward didn't rank as the single most important position for any of the 30 teams.

    Atlanta Hawks - Center
    Boston Celtics - Center
    Brooklyn Nets - Point Guard
    Charlotte Bobcats - Center
    Chicago Bulls - Shooting Guard
    Cleveland Cavaliers - Shooting Guard
    Dallas Mavericks - Point Guard
    Denver Nuggets - Shooting Guard
    Detroit Pistons - Center
Golden State Warriors - Small Forward
    Houston Rockets - Center
    Indiana Pacers - Point Guard
Los Angeles Clippers - Shooting Guard
Los Angeles Lakers - Point Guard
    Memphis Grizzlies - Shooting Guard
    Miami Heat - Center
    Milwaukee Bucks - Center
    Minnesota Timberwolves - Shooting Guard
    New Orleans Hornets - Center
New York Knicks - Point Guard
    Oklahoma City Thunder - Center
    Orlando Magic - Center
    Philadelphia 76ers - Center
    Phoenix Suns - Point Guard
Portland Trail Blazers - Point Guard
    Sacramento Kings - Center
    San Antonio Spurs - Center
    Toronto Raptors - Small Forward
    Utah Jazz - Point Guard
    Washington Wizards - Shooting Guard
i agree with most of them, wizards sorted theirs out, Orlando definately need a P.G and S.F more. Philly needs a big man period, Charlotte needs a S.F the most (but they need almost everything)

with the lakers i know we need a P.G for sure, but we need a S.F almost as badly, Barnes hits F.A and Ebanks is a good bench player but we need a guy who can shoot the ball

So half the league needs Centers. The Lakers have two AS Centers and a need for PG. There is an uprising of talented PGs in the league right now. Sounds like demand is on our side lol. Anyway what Lakers need is consistent outside shooting. That's the #1 need. A PG will only help so much because Kobe will have the ball in his hands a lot. The team got torched because teams load the paint, nobody can hit an outside shot, and there was no creativity on offense. So a 3 point shooting PG would be perfect. Like Nash for example.

i was thinking, keep Sessions and go get a S.F who can shoot (and actually play basketball at a decent rate in general) Beasley could do that for us and he is super talented also (bonehead but talented)

Beasley would be awful for the Lakers imo. They need knockdown shooters at the 1 and 3 and they will dominate if they keep their big 3

well he is better then what we have atm. honestly at P.G we cannot do much, i think their is a reason we got DJO, that was to add bench production for sure. the only option we have is to trade Gasol for a P.G or to get a 38 year old Nash who isn't a long term solution to a problem that has been carrying on for the last 3 years at least

Good PG is not necessary with Kobe dominating the ball. They just need a guy to stand behind the 3-point line and shoot at a 37%+ clip

Beasley isn't the best option either I agree. Again, having 3 point shooting would open everything up. Make it much easier on Gasol (if he stays) and Bynum to operate in the paint and they are both good passers so it'll be a great situation for the Lakers if Mitch can make that happen

LOL @Sactown needs Center. We have DMC there when at SF there is Tyreke who isn't forward, Tyler Honycutt who is D-Leaguer and John Salmons who who would be out of this league already if Bucks didn't give him that shitty contract
