this is what i am saying about the lakers also. why fix what isn't broken (as in trying to upgrade Ariza and Farmar to MWP and Blake)

the result is that we have 3 all star caliber players but a chronically underachieving supporting cast as well as downright scrubs

but not going to blame management for all of those, just two of them, apart from that they have done an excellent job

BECAUSE, changing Ariza to Artest directly resulted in him playing a major role in getting revenge over the Celtics and a championship ring. Lakers simply couldn't pay Farmer and give him the minutes he needed and Lakers actually showed loyalty from a management standpoint (rare these days with everything being a business) by keeping Fisher. Even when things are fine, you always look to improve in what ways you can. Front office thought Artest would be an upgrade at the 3 and so they went for it. And Farmar was just an unfortunate sacrifice and collateral damage from having too many talented players on one team.

And the 3 All-star Caliber players surrounded by scrubs. That sounds a lot like the Miami Heat doesn't it? You can't have 3 all-star players on a team and expect to have a full feature supporting cast and bench. The Thunder have one now but only because half the team r on rookie contracts. They are gonna lose depth and talent once contracts end and money becomes an issue. And the roster moves with all this in mind have been pretty stellar given the circumstances. If Mike Brown won't properly utilize the bench then that's not the front office's fault, they've done all they can.

but not going to blame management for all of those, just two of them, apart from that they have done an excellent job
    I'm glad you realize that

Blake got paid more than Farmar. and what has MWP done really in the regular season's that has been noteworthy, at least Ariza could have provided in the regular season also and has proven to be clutch. if it ain't broke, don't fix it. the lakers weren't broke at all. and fisher, please at that stage he was averaging 9PPG and declining fast, it was way to obvious for the last 4 years that he needed to be benched and a proper P.G needed to come in (even in Phil's system) not saying Front Office didn't do a fantastic job, but their was room for improvement at the same time

Ariza was up for a big time pay check after his contract was over with the Lakers. I don't think the Lakers could've possibly matched financially.

I was under the impression he had more, I guess they had a window for him. I know he wanted a long term deal.

yeah we could of gotten him long term also (no new CBA bullshit and all that) also Farmar would of been cheaper than Blake as it is. everything else i cannot fault (well maybe not getting at least Roddy B from Dallas for Odom since he was 6th man of the year )

    C Bynum
    P.F Gasol
    S.F Ariza
    S.G Kobe
    P.G Sessions

    C Hill
    P.F McRoberts
    S.F Barnes
    S.G Gouldelock
    P.G Farmar

that squad would of at least been vying harder for the WCF still

but i digress, apart from that stuffup. i really couldn't ask for much more, though they're going to have to come up with something creative if they want to deal Pau for anything substantial this offseason

I dunno, I'm pretty sure they signed Artest to three years for about the same amount of money right? Didn't he walk into the locker rooms after they won a championship too saying that he wants in? I guess they saw him as an "upgrade."
