Shaq: Howard leaving Orlando would be 'travesty'

NEW YORK (AP) -- Shaquille O'Neal says it would be a "travesty" if Dwight Howard leaves the Orlando Magic

O'Neal also says Howard's situation is not like his was when he left for the Lakers in 1996, because he says he wanted to stay with the Magic but had a better option.

With Howard, O'Neal says that there may be an "underlying problem" that makes the All-Star center reluctant to sign a contract extension there.

But O'Neal, speaking Tuesday on a Turner Sports conference call, says the All-Star game in Orlando will still be a great event even with Howard's desire to be traded looming over the weekend.

like Shaq can talk. He left an Orlando team that was better then this mob Dwight has. I think it's all well and good that Orlando want to keep Dwight, but why don't they try to make deals to make Dwight stay i.e. make deals for players that can make Orlando a contender, and with the way the contracts are now, it may be a tall task

I don't understand why Shaq hates on Dwight so much. Shaq was twice the player Howard is.

i think hes just afraid that one day people might try to talk about the two of them and compare, and he doesnt want it to happen. he also has beef with dwight stealing his whole superman moniker and shit.

imo its never gonna be a debate. shaq is a possible candidate for best center of all time, id prob put dwight at like 5ish, taking shaq, wilt, and kareem over him for sure. and then rank him in with maybe guys along the lines of moses malone and bill russell. yanomsayin

Idk if I'd even put Dwight in top 5
    In no specific order
    KAJ
    Shaq
    Russel
    Wilt
    Walton
    Ewing
    Hakeem
    Robinson
    Mourning
    Moses
Duncan(he has technically played C more than PF)

All have a case over Dwight. Plus look at Howards competition. Bynum is the only one that can actually match up with him in the entire league right now. Maybe DMC and Favors in a couple years but the amount of really good centers out there is probably the worst in league history.
