    The Last Hurrah?

How many more chances do Kobe's Lakers really have at the title? I think this upcoming season is their last chance. Kobe, Nash, and Gasol are all aging. Nash is 38, Pau is 32, and Kobe has played a whopping 50,000 minutes over his career.

IMO, they'll be top contenders for the next two season as long as they remain healthy. Mitch has done a kick ass job ensuring this team will be contenders for the final two years of Kobe's contract. Come the 2014 season the only contract the Lakers will have on their payroll will be Steve Nash and most likely Dwight Howard's. They will have a tremendous amount of cap room to be players in free agency that season. It also happens to be the same offseason Wade, Lebron, Bosh, Melo,Granger,Monta Ellis, Brandon Jennings,Tyreke Evans can all become free agents.

Oh for sure, the Lakers will never be out of it as long as they're the Lakers. I think this is just the last time Kobe's Lakers have a shot.

Give them as long as Kobe and Dwight are together. Especially with Nash and Gasol. I give 'em 3 years.

    hell yeah they got time...eaaaaasy.
Even with what Spens says up there (just 2 years) they can still extend if they've enjoyed the 80-2 records and playoff ownage they'll have gotten those two years in a row...

Plus, they'll get huuuuuge acquisitions if they trade them.
    3 years seems just right.

This. We'll be relevant for years to come thanks to Mitch. Even without Kobe. Assuming that Dwight extends his contract with the Lakers, we'll have a contending team for many many years.

PS- That is one hell of a FA class that year. With all our cap space that year maybe we can pull in one of the big names to go with Dwight?
