who would be the first? there arent too many better scorers than him in the league![]()
Interesting read (as far as Indiana goes anyway)
Danny Granger had a good playoff series, but Pacers general manager Larry Bird felt he took some small steps backward this year and wants to see him step up his game.
"He's a top-30 player," Bird said. "I've always thought he could be an All-Star and he's close, but he's not there yet. I didn't think he was as committed consistently as he's been in the past. It would be really nice if he could be our second scorer.''
Bird also commented on rookie guard Lance Stephenson.
"When he's playing, he's fine and has as much talent as anybody on this team," Bird said. "He's a long shot, but he's my ace in the hole. If we can get him to grow up, he knows how to play . . .
"I know he's a pain in the ass and the guys in the locker room get frustrated with him, but I'm not giving up on him. Unless he does something crazy."

From the sound of it, he wants to develop Stephenson to do it
Seriously, I'm not sure. He's a good scorer, but I too think he'd be better suited as a 2nd option, but I'm thinking that on the pretence of him being on a perennial playoff team... Which the Pacers aren't. Maybe Larry legend knows something we don't![]()
STAMPING OUT TEH IGNORANCE!
i can understand the idea, but honestly, who would he REALISTICALLY be second fiddle to? hes never gonna be on the same team as a melo, kd, joe johnson, rudy gay, etc, so why would bird bring this up? it just sounds stupid, as there really will never be anyone he could be a second option to. thats my opinion though![]()
I dont think it'll work. I dont see anyone on the Pacers current roster having the potential to be a better scorer than Granger.

They have a lot of cap room coming up because I think Dunleavy and Foster's contracts are up, it'll be interesting to see what they do..because I don't think there is the type of player they wanted available in this years free agent class

I've mentioned numerous times on the forum that the offense just breaks down when he's got the ball in his hands. I think he needs to step down from the main spot he'd be an amazing second option for sure.
